By combining fats or oils (such as our vegetable oil blends) with lye, both are transformed in a chemical process known as saponification. What is left is soap and natural glycerin. The lye is destroyed. The leftover oil in Big Al soap recipes guarantees no lye is left. Plus it adds to the moisturizing benefits of our soaps.
